Every revenue figure on IP Ranking carries a confidence level that indicates the quality and verifiability of the underlying data.
Compiled from publicly available sources: industry reports (TITLEMAX, Dentsu), press releases, financial filings. Cross-referenced across 2+ sources. Margin of error: ±30%.
Aggregated from multiple verified data points: box office (Box Office Mojo), game sales (VGChartz), manga circulation (Oricon), merchandise licensing fees. Margin of error: ±15%.
Based on proprietary datasets, industry contacts, or licensed data feeds. Not publicly verifiable but internally validated. Margin of error: ±10%.
Sourced from audited financial statements, SEC filings, or direct company disclosures. Margin of error: <5%.

Methodology
Revenue figures represent estimated lifetime gross revenue generated by the IP across all commercial categories. This includes direct revenue (sales, box office) and indirect revenue (licensing fees, merchandise royalties).
For franchise-level IPs (e.g., Pokemon, One Piece), revenue is aggregated across all titles, seasons, games, and merchandise lines within the franchise.
All figures are in USD. Non-USD sources are converted at the historical exchange rate at the time of the original report.
Roadmap
Current (Lv1): Public estimates for Top 50 IPs. L1 confidence. Manual entry.
Next (Lv2): Semi-automated aggregation from box office APIs, game sales trackers, and manga circulation data. L2 confidence for top 200 IPs.
Future (Lv3): Licensed data feeds from industry partners. Quarterly updates. L3 confidence for 500+ IPs.
