Top Entertainment IP Franchises Worldwide (2026)

IP Ranking tracks global demand for entertainment franchises across anime, games, western media, and character brands. Rankings are updated daily using data from Netflix, Google Trends, AniList, MyAnimeList, and Wikipedia across 86 countries, with partial YouTube coverage.

Each franchise receives a Character Valuation Score (CVS) from 0 to 100, measuring four dimensions: Social Buzz (search intensity adjusted for geographic spread), Search Demand (top-5 country average), Global Reach (country coverage), and Source Coverage (data source breadth). A breadth bonus rewards franchises with multiple active titles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IP Ranking?

IP Ranking is a global entertainment IP intelligence platform that tracks demand for anime, gaming, western media, and character franchises across 86 countries. Each franchise is scored using our Character Valuation Score (CVS), a composite index from 0 to 100 based on six independent data sources.

How is CVS calculated?

The Character Valuation Score (CVS v1.2) combines four weighted dimensions: Social Buzz (30%) measures Google Trends intensity adjusted for geographic spread, Search Demand (25%) averages the top-5 country scores, Global Reach (25%) measures country coverage out of 86, and Source Coverage (20%) counts active data sources. Franchise-level scores add a breadth bonus (up to +10) for franchises with multiple active titles. See our methodology page for the full formula.

What data sources are used?

IP Ranking aggregates data from six sources: Netflix Top 10 rankings (86 countries), YouTube trending videos, Google Trends search interest (86 countries), AniList community ratings, MyAnimeList scores and popularity, and Wikipedia pageview data. Each source contributes independently to the composite score.

How often is data updated?

Source data is collected daily via automated pipelines. CVS scores are recomputed daily at 11:00 UTC, and franchise snapshots are generated at 12:00 UTC. The homepage ranking reflects the latest available snapshot.

What does Trending mean?

The Trending view ranks franchises by momentum rather than overall strength. It shows the change in CVS score compared to the previous daily snapshot. A franchise with a large positive delta is gaining demand quickly, even if its overall CVS is lower than established franchises. Trending becomes available after two or more daily snapshots have been collected.
